The A-dec Way Principle #1: Concern For People
A-dec co-founder Ken Austin was determined to create an A-dec partnership with Rotary Clubs to help bring portable dental solutions to under-served populations.
Dental professionals needed to set up a reliable dental unit in locations that may not have running water or electricity. Austin engineered a solution - the Rota-Dent, a portable control unit with vacuum, handpieces, air/water syringe, and carrying case.
Through the years, A-dec has manufactured and donated over 2,300 Rota-Dent units, supporting mission dentistry throughout the world.
Recently, Austin turned his engineering skills to another problem that dentists face in remote locations: lack of portable dental chairs.
The result is the TotaChair, designed to be readily mobilized and set up for the unique needs of temporary settings.
More than 80,000 people have received care from outreach volunteers using Rota-Dent and TotaChair units. The number keeps growing. Each purchase of a Rota-Dent and TotaChair benefits youth programs through local Rotary Clubs.
