A-dec Integrates Advanced SoproLIFE Technology
Newberg, Ore. - May 14, 2010
A-dec is proud to announce that its delivery systems support the full integration of SoproLIFE, the industry's most advanced intraoral camera and caries detector.
SoproLIFE's unique combination of caries detection and intraoral imaging is recognized as the only fluorescence camera that gives dentists two different types of vision to evaluate, diagnose, treat, and educate the patient. The dentist can easily switch between diagnostic aid mode and treatment aid mode: treatment mode is oriented on the dentinal structures whereas the diagnostic mode focuses on the enamel structure. As an example, the fluorescent images in treatment mode are able to reveal the differences between healthy and diseased tissue, both pre- and post- operatively.
Made by ACTEON, some industry experts say the lightweight hand-held instrument has a way of demonstrating why a picture can be worth a thousand words.
"When a dentist can reveal tooth decay to a patient in such a visible and dramatic way, you're adding to a favorable treatment room experience," explains A‑dec Product Manager Aaron Mangelsdorf. SoproLIFE, he adds, helps doctors communicate and explain treatment recommendations easily and efficiently.
"Anything that helps the doctor increase the standard of care is significant," says Mangelsdorf. "But to be able to make a breakthrough technology like SoproLIFE easier and simpler for doctors to own, operate and utilize — that's doubly exciting."
SoproLIFE capabilities include backward compatibility (with all existing Sopro intraoral camera tubing and docking), white and blue next-generation LEDs for traditional camera mode and fluorescence, adjustable focal range from 0 mm to infinite, and several other distinctions that are consistent with the easy-to-clean design of A‑dec solutions.
"Sopro technology and A‑dec are a perfect fit," says Mangelsdorf. "And because this latest SoproLIFE system is fully integrated as an A‑dec option, 'perfect fit' has some added meaning."
